GCAC's 2014-2015 DELTA OF THE YEAR AWARD
Soror Nyemade Yolanda Henry was presented our 2014-2015 award for outstanding service to the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter and the Gwinnett community. Soror Henry, a Diamond Life Member, was initiated at the Iota Sigma Chapter of Mercer University during the spring semester of the Great Year of 1991. Soror Henry is the proud owner of The Henry Agency, Inc - Nationwide Insurance, where she serves as an insurance consultant, protecting the lives and assets of residents and business owners in the metro-Atlanta area. During her very first year as Chair of the Physical & Mental Health Committee, Soror Henry and her committee improved the branding of GCAC's signature Women's Health Summit & Taboo Tea by creating an event logo and branding for the event. The committee, under Soror Henry's leadership was successful in partnering with vendors such as The American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to participate in The Women's Health Summit & Taboo Tea. The committee also raised over $4,300 for the 2015 Gwinnett County Relay for Life, which was the most raised in the history of our chapter. The Physical & Mental Health Committee also received the American Cancer Society Impact Award at the 2015 National Convention in Houston Texas. In Soror Henry's spare time, she loves to tend to her plants, take walks and jog. Her favorite quote is the scripture that says "Faith without works is dead." It was that same scripture that motivated Soror Henry to begin exercising and resulted in her losing over 50 lbs in an effort to improve her health. Please join us in honoring Soror Nyemade Henry for her dedicated service to the chapter and the Gwinnett community.

GCAC’s 2014-2015 DELTA DEAR OF THE YEAR AWARD
Soror Evelyn Maddox Chatters was initiated in the Xi Iota City-Wide Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta at the University of South Carolina Upstate in April, 1994. Incredibly, this was an undergraduate chapter as Soror Chatters returned to complete her college education at age 42. She was presented as a Delta at Wofford College at age 44 and stepped with her line sisters who were less than half her age! Soror Chatters is a life –long educator. She has served as an administrative assistant, school counselor, remedial teacher, and currently as the Parent Instructional Coordinator at Bethesda Elementary School in Lawrenceville, GA. She retired from counseling in South Carolina, but continues to serve our youth in Georgia until her “next” retirement. Ms. Chatters is the proud mother of three adult children. Her two sons, Edward and Julius, both retired from the military after 20 and 21 years of service respectively. They are now employed as civilians with the Department of Defense. Her daughter, Dr. Nia Vaughn, teaches chemistry and forensics at Norcross H. S. in Norcross, GA. She is also an assistant campus dean and instructor at Strayer University. Evelyn has seven grandchildren, ages 22 years to 10 months old. Soror Chatters has worked faithfully on the Physical and Mental Health Committee, the International Awareness and Involvement Committee, and the Nominating Committee. She was the recipient of the “Unsung Hero” award for her work with the International Awareness committee. As a previous member of the Spartanburg (S.C.) Alumnae Chapter, she held positions of Recording Secretary and Chair of the Delta Academy Committee. Soror Chatters supports several fundraising events and community projects of GCAC. She is dedicated to a life of service, and committed to improving the lives of our youth and the development of our communities.
